BREL HOME: 'Innovating with Bluetooth and Matter'
Z&R published an article about our developments in connectivity. We are pleased to share this article. 'Currently, there are many technical developments underway regarding the connectivity of motors for sun shading products. BREL HOME is closely monitoring these developments and applies them to BREL HOME products as soon as they are realistic and workable. In the coming period, BREL HOME will integrate two innovations into the range.
Bluetooth for indoor sun shading
The first innovation is a Bluetooth module that BREL HOME is developing for all motors for indoor sun shading. This allows all these motors to be directly controlled with the BREL HOME app when the end-user is indoors. Control is possible outdoors via the BREL HOME hub.
BREL HOME and Matter
A second innovation is Matter. “There is a lot of talk about Matter,” notes Reinoud Arts from BREL HOME. “But what is it actually? Many people think Matter is a kind of home automation system, a home control. But it is not. What it is, is a way to connect a product to the phone, regardless of whether the user is at home or not. Matter is a language that ensures all devices can communicate with each other via Amazon's Alexa, Apple Homekit, or Google Home.”
What does Matter mean for BREL HOME products?
“Matter is an ideal connection for indoor sun shading because the wireless connection works well indoors,” says Arts. “The integration of Matter into our products for indoor sun shading has begun, and the first products will be ready before the end of the year.”
“We see great opportunities for Matter, but remain critical. Unfortunately, with Matter, you cannot yet tell the motor where to stop at the top and bottom. For that, you still need the remote control or our BREL HOME app!”
“Also, Matter is not yet ready to control sun shading outdoors. This is partly due to all the insulation layers that are now applied in new buildings. Think, for example, of triple glazing. For outdoor sun shading, connection with the remote control is still the best option because the radio signal is much stronger than a Matter signal. After all, you want to be sure that your large folding arm awning closes when it's windy!”
Discover the new motors
The latest technological developments will be showcased in 2024 at the Polyclose trade fair in Ghent from January 17 to 19 and the R&T in Stuttgart from February 19 to 23. In addition to the new Bluetooth and Matter motors, BREL HOME's wide range of solar motors will also be featured. “Therefore, come visit us at Polyclose at stand number 4120 and at the R&T at stand number 7D41,” concludes Reinoud Arts.'
