Paul Welp (JASNO): "A true brand is focused on doing good and getting better"

Paul Welp, general manager of JASNO Shutters in Eersel, North Brabant, discovered the similarities between his company and BREL HOME. “We are both committed to delivering our products well and continuously improving them. This shared approach ensures a pleasant collaboration.”

JASNO was founded in 2001 by Jeroen Hermans. Paul was a furniture maker at the time and had his own business. In the early years, JASNO produced and delivered shutters, and later added blinds. From 2004, Paul began helping out at JASNO once a week, alongside his own furniture business. This gradually increased until he worked there full-time and became Operational Director in 2019, and eventually General Manager of JASNO in 2023. “Before you know it, you're sitting in this chair as director,” Paul jokes. The company now supplies sun protection and shutters in the Netherlands and beyond, including Belgium, France, Poland, and Austria.

What makes this work so enjoyable?
Paul explains that JASNO creates custom work for every client, which is why the connection with BREL HOME is so enjoyable: “BREL HOME is the same type of company as us. We know, just like BREL HOME, exactly how we make each component. We also produce our own shutters, and the hardware comes from our own molds.”

A long-term collaboration
JASNO and BREL HOME have been working closely together for several years now. “We encountered BREL HOME a few years ago at a trade fair in Gorinchem, where we started a conversation with Daan Paulissen. He really knows what he's talking about.” Paul feels a strong affinity with how BREL HOME operates: “It is a brand that has its products made the way they want. They clearly communicate the possibilities and what is coming in the future.” According to Paul, a real brand is always focused on doing well and getting better, a good trait that both BREL HOME and JASNO possess. “Moreover,” Paul adds, “there are currently many investment companies in the market that take over businesses and focus on big money. We remain ourselves and can thus develop growth through collaborations with BREL HOME and other companies without focusing solely on money.”

 

Pioneering together
Paul further mentions that he really enjoys working with BREL HOME because they can brainstorm well about ideas. “We are true enthusiasts: BREL HOME in the field of motors, and us in the field of shutters and blinds.” He talks about the most recent developments of a new motor, for which he provided the specifications to BREL HOME, and which they are making for JASNO. The hope is that this motor can be launched next year. Their unique collaboration is invaluable in this regard. “We are also considering expansion internationally, involving BREL HOME as well.”

Which BREL HOME products do you use the most in JASNO's projects?
“There are several: the BREL HOME tilt-only motors, such as the BREL BTE50, but also the BREL HOME hub and remote control, the converter, cables, and plugs. For our customers, we can hang blinds without a cord with the integrated BREL Home motors. Fast and easy.”

How do you view the future?
Paul looks positively towards the future: “I think the future is bright, precisely because people are more engaged with what is happening in businesses and how we can make the world more enjoyable and beautiful together.” JASNO is a company that, like BREL HOME, is very focused on sustainability and authenticity. “We show why people should choose our brand: we deliver quality that lasts and is reliable. Precisely because we do everything ourselves, we know, just like BREL HOME, exactly what we have in-house.”
